Part IV: Dignity for Life - America's unborn children

Unlike most soldiers who never intend to become heroes, General George Patton decided in childhood that his goal in life was to become a hero. This good aim was first inspired by listening to his father read aloud for hours about the exploits of the heroes of ancient Greece. Homer's Iliad and Odyssey were particular favorites of young George.

During WWII shortly after the 3rd Army liberated the Buchenwald concentration camp, George Patton instituted the policy, later adopted by other commanders, of forcing local German civilians through the horrors of the camps. People who lived within the stench of the camps claimed to know nothing about the horrors that were taking place directly next door to them! Patton marched entire towns through the camps to lift and bury bodies and to help those who were still alive.

Today, since Roe v. Wade, legalized abortion within the United States has taken the lives of some 55 MILLION unborn children. Some 2,800 people died during 911. Some 4,400 children die everyday in America because of legalized abortion. Before you vote in upcoming elections, understand exactly what you are defending. Visit these pages:

"Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's
longing for itself. You may house their
bodies but not their souls, for their
souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in
your dreams."
- Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931)

"Keep me away from the wisdom that does not cry,
the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness
which does not bow before children."
- Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931)

I became an artist to raise public awareness about multiple sclerosis. Trained as a scientist, the first painting I choose to exhibit at the Agora Gallery in Soho, New York City (two months after September 11, 2001) is an abstraction called “Discovery” (shown on the left).

I understand this painting to be the moment when human life begins--the act of fertilization (egg and sperm), two genotypes discovering one another and setting into motion the algorithm of a human life. I decided to name the painting "Discovery" after a famous quotation by Albert Szent-Gyorgi (1893-1986) who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 1937. His words inspired me: “Discovery consists in seeing what everyone else has seen, and thinking what no one else has thought."

"Discovery" broken art

“Human embryos obtained in vitro are human beings and are subjects with rights; their dignity and right to life must be respected from the first moment of their existence. It is immoral to produce human embryos destined to be exploited as disposable 'biological material." - Pope John Paul II

General Patton’s soldiers often referred to him as “Ol’ Blood & Guts.” Legend has it that upon receiving orders many soldiers would say “Yeah sure, our blood and his guts!” Today, it’s the blood of America's children without your guts. Find the guts! Choose to be a hero. May God bless you.
